IMPRESSIONS

About This Project

IMPRESSIONS, a series of prints created from glazing the layers of the reliefs in Mining Identity. Layers of oil paint were mixed with alkyds and laid on the reliefs and then blotted off with paper towels and allowed to dry. The impressions were then picked up in a process similar to creating a japanese ukioye print. Wax will break down with anything containing turpenoids, so every time a print was taken the original build up slightly deteriorated as it embedded cadmiums in each print.
80 originals.

Also available on rice paper or gampi as prints.
